From a young age, Glen was raised in an environment of entrepreneurship and innovation being the son of a successful entrepreneurial couple. Glen was also raised in the outdoors working on ranches, camping out, and taking lengthy horseback pack trips deep into the Rocky Mountains. He also had an affinity for Jeeps. The second vehicle he ever drove was a 1942 Jeep Willys on the family ranch. The family had an anniversary edition CJ he enjoyed also. Later, he started “car camping” in his Ford Bronco.
After a lengthy career in the beef technology business working with his inventor and 88 patent-holding father, Bill Pratt, Glen began a change of pace overlanding with his young children in a Jeep Wrangler and off-road trailer. He witnessed the newness of overlanding in the US out on the trail and at events such as Overland Expo West. He saw the need for domestically-manufactured solutions for the North American overland and off-road community.
Glen entered the overland industry by founding Red River Rigs in 2017 and initially built up-fitted Jeep Wranglers and Dodge Rams. Always looking for something unique to offer the North American overland market, Glen helped import and introduce Australia’s number one off road trailer, Patriot Campers, to the United States.
During overland investigations in Europe, Glen discovered a remarkable overland solution like no other for Jeep Wrangler JKU enthusiasts. Picture this: an extended Jeep, cutting-edge accessories, and the ultimate convenience of a travel trailer combined with the rugged off-road capabilities of a Jeep. Unmatched anywhere else, Glen made it his mission to introduce this revolutionary all-in-one Jeep camper concept to his fellow overland enthusiasts in North America. Thus, the American Safari JXL was born.
Glen took this raw Jeep camper concept and began ruggedizing and Americanizing the system with innovative accessories and modifications more suitable to the North American user. He also developed the first system of this kind to fit a Jeep Wrangler JLU.
And even better, it’s now all manufactured right here in the USA!
Join Glen and the Red River Rigs team as they continue to innovate and bring new solutions to overlanders everywhere.
